Meet donna willingham

Luxury wedding florist

Flowers are more than just Donna’s passion – as a wedding florist she lives and breathes them, and finds herself constantly inspired by the natural world around her.

With a natural eye for floral design, her style is a step away from traditional floristry. Loose, natural and wild abandon are more Donna’s thing – very much a just-picked-from-the-garden vibe. She has gained a reputation for providing extraordinary floral displays in the east of England and beyond. An honest, heartfelt approach and encyclopaedic knowledge of flowers has led The Country Garden Florist to work at some of the finest venues and shows in the world, including The Chelsea Flower Show.

Donna’s Story

Meet the maker

Donna’s journey to become a wedding florist began as far back as she can remember. As a child, stems of cut tulips on her bedside were pure joy and many happy hours were spent planting in the garden.

Following a 15-year career in media where she worked for dozens of publications including Practical Gardening magazine and Garden News, she completed a course in Garden Design with the RHS, always finding herself surrounded by plants and flowers.

It’s wedding floristry that is Donna’s greatest love, which led her to open her first shop in rural Cambridgeshire in 2013. Since then she has gone on to flower hundreds of weddings and become a recommended supplier for many of the best venues in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, including Haycock Manor Wansford, Sissons Barn, Thetford Farm Barn, Elton Hall, William Cecil Stamford and The Grange at Leverton.

When she isn’t flowering weddings, you’ll find Donna at home in the garden, with her two young children baking banana bread, and probably playing Scrabble or Othello (at which she is yet to be beaten…). A delicious Sunday lunch in the country and stroll is the perfect idea of a day off – if she is lucky to get one!
